- Scope and Content
- Four black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published November 28, 1959 with captions:
- "New Parade Float - This is one of six new floats which will appear in the 1959 Sparta Santa Claus Parade. Bambi, who will ride with his forest friends, was fashioned from wood, wire, paper mache, and plenty of hard work. In the above photo, he is inspected by Harry Smale, and his six-year-old grandson, Kim."
- "The Pied Piper's Rats - More than a full week of painstaking labour was required to manufacture 50 of these plywood rats which will ride on the pied piper's float in the Sparta Santa Claus Parade. In the above photo, they are checked by Murray Weir, left, and Robert Harvey, president of the Sparta Community Society".
- "Times-Journal in it Too - Many hundreds of copies of the Times-Journal were used in the form of paper-mache, to build a large snow-fort which will me manned by snowmen. In the above photo, Jack Arthur, left, and Andy Sim, apply yet another sheet of paper to one end of the snow-fort".
- "Chinese Dragon - This Fierce Chinese Dragon held no fear for Cameron Smale, 10, of Sparta, who had a sneak preview of the brand-new parade attraction at Sparta one night this week. The dragon is one of the new floats which will appear in the Parade Dec. 12. With Cameron is Normal Oille, who is storing the monster in his garage until parade day".
