- "Santa Claus is Real - In Sparta, the folks believe in Christmas and the legend of Santa Claus. Among those who have brought the warm feeling to thousands of annual visitors is "Chuck" Smale. Here he ponders on a change in a float".
- "Sparta Theme - This present filled coal car on the Santa Claus Railway float typifies the spirit of Christmas in this little historic Elgin village. Villagers donate time and materials to provide thousands of visitors with a happy Christmas".
- "Santa's Helper - Harry Smale, one of Sparta's senior citizens mixes up a bucket of whitewash to brighten up a farm eart. "Look at the fun we have," Mr. Smale said. Celebrating Christmas is a village-wide hobby at Sparta".
- "Storybook Character - Everything is handmade and decorated to suit Sparta citizens. This huge green frog, right from the pages of a child's book, will appear in the big parade Dec. 14. He is hiding in a barn until the big day".
