- " About 200 ghosts, witches, and goblins were seen marching around Elgin Primary School yesterday afternoon. When questioned, Principal John Ayearst expressed little concern. It is suspected he knew all along the parade of paper personages was in reality comprised of students - from kindergarten to Grade 4 inclusive - from the school. Show above are just some of the Halloween horde. After the parade the children retired to their individual classrooms for parties." (5a)
- " Doug Bolt (left) and Jim McCann are seen inspecting the damage created by Hallowe'en rock throwers to their Bolt-McCann Mercury Sales Ltd. showroom windows. Four of the plate glass windows were smashed and Mr. Bolt estimated damage at $1,000. In Mr. Bolt's hands are four rocks found inside the showroom this morning." (5b)
- " Grade 7 and 8 students of Port Stanley Public School gathered downtown for the annual window-painting competition yesterday. The event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, is held every year in an effort to give the youngsters something constructive to do at a time when many young minds are considering destructive activities. Shown here are Mark Bowlby, 214 William Street, Port Stanley, left, and Paul White, 417 Tower Heights Drive, Port Stanley, right, as they work dilligently in the hopes of being the winners of the competition." (5c)
- " Dianne McCallum, 2 1/2 and sister Debbie of 217 Currie Street, Dutton, took time out from their trick and treating to take a rest on a tree stump in Dutton last night. The West Elgin area received no complaints of damage during last night's activities." (5d)
- " St. Thomas children, even some old and big ones, roamed the city streets last night. In the above picture are four young Halloweeners trick or treating the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John Meyer, 29 Wood Street. Left to right are, Mrs. Meyer, Shelagh Moore, 20 Mandeville Road; Danielle Carrigan, 19 Parkview Drive; Michele Carrigan, 19 Parkview Drive, and Mary McArthur, 18 Dieppe Drive." (5e)
