- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published August 12, 1953 with caption: "Mahomet Scores at Convention - The Patrol of Mahomet, Sanctorum, No. 14 Ancient Mystic Order of Samaritans, of St. Thomas, competing in drill competitions at the International Supreme Convention held in Columbus, Ohio, Aug. 4 to 8, scored 98 of a possible 100 points, winning the highest honors. The members wore uniforms which they purchased recently and received many compliments on the same. Members who took part from St. Thomas and district are shown in the above picture, taken after their return home, but when Horner Honsinger and Miles Rock were absent, are as follows: Front row: William West, Leon King, George West, Gordon Brewer (captain), Albert Marshall (co-captain), Clarence Gifford, Irvine Woolley, Second row: Clayton Shackleton, Don Shackleton, Bob Reid, Neil McMillan, Henry Legg (Grand Minorchas), Orville Brooks, Jim Ward. Top row: Harvey Smith, George Watson, Laverne Ferguson, L. Thompson, Jack Carroll, Ed Coventry, Fred Jones. Accompanying the members to Columbus were Mrs. E. McEwan, Miss Sara Reade, Mrs. James Ward, Mrs. Neil McMillan, Mrs. Ed Coventry and Mrs. Henry Legg and Elmer Ward, cameraman. The 1954 Convention will be held at Long Beach, California the first week in August.".
