- Three black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published July 23, 1974 with captions:
- " As shown by these cherry tree branches, the birds this season have taken their toll on the sour cherry yield as John Wall, of RR 1, Port Burwell, will witness. One method of prevention he and other farmers have tried is an electronic bird scarer (modern scare crow), shown above. He said, however, it is not keeping the birds out of his 700 sour cherry trees. Controlled by an electric eye, the device ampifies high frequency sounds through the speakers on top, The orchard is attacked by flocks of 500 birds, the cherry farmer said." (9a)
