Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published November 27, 1973 with caption: "At the recent Hi Neighbor coffee party, newcomers welcomed to their meeting at the YWCA, their guest Mrs. Kenneth McLaughlin, Talbotville, who brought along several beautiful quilts to show and explain some of the history of this fascinating hobby to newcomers to the city. In days gone by when the art of assembling and stitching a quilt was a necessity, quilting bees were an everyday occurrence rather than the enchanting hobby it has become today. The log cabin quilt, one of the oldest patterns displayed by Mrs. McLaughlin, right, is being admired by, from left, Mrs. Keith Ayers, Mrs. John Slatford and Mrs. A.A. McCormick, Hi Neighbor hostesses."

Scope and Content
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published July 26, 1967 with caption: "Project Confusion - In a tanled heap at the present time are these grave markers in the old River Road pioneer cemetery on R.R. 5, St. Thomas. It's not the work of vandals, however, but merely the temporary state of disorder usually found during any such task. The cemetery, neglected for years, is now being restored through the efforts of the River Road Women's Institutes and the Southwold Township Council. The institute has held two working bees at the site, clearing away brush and overgrowth and plowing the land preparatory to reseeding. The markers will be plastered into a courtyard wall."

Scope and Content
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published September 2, 1967 with caption: "Cemetery Restored - Not too many months ago this cemetery, on the Southwold River Road near White's Station, northwest of St. Thomas, was in an advanced state of deterioration. Then the River Road Women's Institute decided to do something. Now, after three working bees on the site and two meetings with the Southwold Township Council, the cemetery has been almost complete retored. Hundreds of WI members earlier cleared the graveyard of brush and overgrowth and in recent weeks pulled about 20 tree stumps and marker bases from the ground. The site is now being roughly levelled preparatory to landscape work by a road grader. When this is done, the land will be seeded. Provided with grants by the Southwold Council, the WI hired a specialist, who has done several such restorations in the past, to erect a central courtyard."
