Scope and Content
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published February 23, 1965 with caption: "Alma Street Presbyterian Church - Founded as an East Mission on Talbot Street over 75 years ago, the Presbyterian Church pictured here took only two years to come home to its present location. Seating 300, the Alma Street Church opened in 1891; it was very rapidly found necessary to double capacity. By 1940 North Street Church has been added as an augmented charge. Then followed a series of conversations and improvements, including the now familiar perma stone exterior. Continuing in this progressive tradition is Alma's present minister, Rev. D. G. Cassidy who is an active leader in the field of Christian Education and a staunch advocate of the teaching ministry. Alma Presbyterian is another of the fine churches leading our city to progress."
